Review: The Gamble (Colorado Mountain #1) by Kristen Ashley

Love is the greatest gamble of all…

Nina Sheridan desperately needs a timeout vacation. With a fiancé who can’t even remember how she takes her coffee, Nina wants some distance to rethink her engagement. Flying halfway around the world from England to a mountain town in Colorado should do the trick. But when she finds a gorgeous man at her rental cabin, Nina’s cold, lonely adventure suddenly heats up.

The owner of the house, Holden “Max” Maxwell is surprised by the beautiful woman who turns up at his door. But when Nina becomes ill, Max spends days nursing her back to health. A private man with a broken heart, Max finds himself drawn to the strong-willed woman. Soon it becomes impossible for Nina and Max to deny their growing attraction to one another. Yet even as these two wounded lovebirds think about taking a chance on a relationship, a dangerous secret from Max’s past emerges-and threatens to end their love for good.

5+ Stars!

This month I needed to read a new to me author for a reading challenge and decided to go with Kristen Ashley. Yes, I know. Gasp! How could I have never read her books before, well to be honest I truly have no idea. This book as well as many other have sat on my TBR list for so long.

After reading this book, I do however get it! KA’s writing pulls you in and leaves you yearning for more. I absolutely devoured this book, and every time I had to set it down to Mom, well all I wanted was to desperately get back to my kindle so I could read more of Max and Nina.

Max is every woman’s dream man when you think rugged, handsome and loving. He was attentive to Nina’s needs, yes at times I did feel he was a little much. I would shake my head and wonder to myself about some of the things he did or said, but at the same time I could see that he meant well. He was just being a man, one that doesn’t always think things through all the way.

Nina is trying to rediscover who she is, to break away from a life that has been nothing more than safe, one that didn’t actually feel as if she were living at all, but more coasting through it.

The chemistry between the two is off the charts! I truly loved this story, and I can’t wait to read the entire Colorado Series by Kristen Ashley as well as other series she has written. I feel silly for waiting for so long but at the same time I discovered this book and her writing with perfect timing for my life.
I hope that anyone who has yet to take a chance on this story does so, and enjoys it as much as I did. There’s a little mystery and twist & turns in the story too that will allow you try to and discover the who’s and what if’s.
